Lamb with Superfoods – Nutrient-Boosted Raw Mince from Dougie’s (For Dogs Only)

Dougie’s Lamb with Superfoods combines 100% lamb with a boost of healthy veg and natural superfoods like seaweed, chia seeds, kale powder, and spirulina. It’s a biologically appropriate raw mince that offers rich flavour and added support for your dog’s overall health.

Naturally higher in fat, lamb is great for dogs needing more energy or variety in their diet. The superfoods provide extra fibre, antioxidants, and essential nutrients to support digestion, coat condition, joints, and the immune system.

Each 560g sleeve contains 4 x 140g cubes, making it simple to portion and quick to thaw. The fine mince texture is easy to handle and suits dogs of all sizes.

Key points:

  • 100% lamb with veg & natural superfoods

  • Supports energy, coat, digestion & immune health

  • Higher fibre for better gut function

  • 560g sleeve with 4 x 140g cubes – easy to portion

  • For dogs only

80:20 is another raw feeding ratio that includes both animal ingredients and beneficial plant matter. It’s made up of:

  • 80% meat, bone, and offal (just like in 80:10:10)
  • 20% veg, fruit, and natural superfoods

This style of feeding is still biologically appropriate, but with a boost of plant-based nutrients to support digestion, antioxidant intake, and overall vitality — especially for dogs.

The added 20% typically includes things like leafy greens, root veg, berries, seeds, herbs, and natural supplements (e.g. kelp, turmeric, flax, or chia). These provide fiber, enzymes, vitamins, and anti-inflammatory compounds that complement the raw diet beautifully.

This ratio is especially helpful for:

  • Dogs who need a bit of extra digestive support
  • Those wanting to add more natural variety and functional ingredients
  • Anyone looking for a balanced, convenient raw option with the extras already blended in

Note: 80:20 is designed for dogs. Cats and ferrets, being obligate carnivores, don’t need or process plant matter well, so a purely animal-based approach (like 80:10:10) is better suited to them.

Rotating proteins is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to keep your pet’s raw diet balanced and biologically supportive. Different meats offer different nutrients — some are higher in taurine, others in zinc, iron, B vitamins, or omega-3s. By feeding a variety, you naturally help cover all nutritional bases over time.

Feeding just one or two proteins long-term can lead to nutritional gaps and even food intolerances. A well-rotated diet supports:

  • More complete nutrition
  • Better gut health and microbiome diversity
  • Less boredom or fussiness with food
  • Lower risk of developing sensitivities

We personally feed as many different proteins as we can — and we recommend feeding at least 4 to 5 different proteins regularly. Try to include a good mix of red meats, poultry, and oily fish (like sardines or salmon a couple of times a week). Exotic proteins such as goat, pheasant, rabbit, or quail are also excellent additions when available.

Rotate as often as possible — ideally, every time you defrost a new meal, choose a different protein. You don’t have to stick to one brand either. If your regular brand only offers a few options, it’s totally fine to mix and match. To make this even easier, we offer a variety of pre-packed mixed boxes that include a selection of different proteins for simple, stress-free rotation.

If your pet has allergies and can only tolerate one or two proteins, that’s okay too — but it’s essential to add the right supplements to support long-term balance.

Not sure where to start or how to rotate safely? We’re always here to help with honest, tailored advice.
